who are we

The Meaning of Maison Mercury

Maison Mercury represents a community of writers coming together to speak on the things we care about most: our work, our craft, and the pursuit of getting better.

Its purpose is to bring writers together in a small group to talk about their projects, get critique and support, and find a true community. This community is created for writers who see their soul in their art, who want to write and become better, and who want to improve and get feedback on the art that they make.

01

Maison

French for "house."

This is a home for writers who:

  • ·Can't find a community that understands the writing process.
  • ·Have imposter syndrome.
  • ·Want to improve their craft.
  • ·Want to give meaningful, intentional feedback.
  • ·Love writing and reading.
  • ·Who dedicate themselves to the writing journey.
  • ·Who are at different levels of writing expertise.

Mercury

The planet of communication.

Writing has been shared from ancestor to ancestor, orally, through design, and now in writing. Communication is how writers share from one soul to another. This collective is about improving our communication as a group in a safe space, with zero judgment and with intentionality. The planet Mercury reminds us that we have a story to tell; we just need a space to enhance it, improve it, and share it.

Maison Mercury is a home where people come together, connected by the thing that matters most to them: writing. At its core, it is a writing group that focuses on intentional feedback, shared accountability, and respect.

Who This Is For

This community is for you if:

  • 01

You are tired of writing in isolation and want intentional discourse.

  • 02

You are willing to give feedback as much as you receive it.

  • 03

You are ready to commit to the craft.

  • 04

You want to find a dedicated group to share your writing and its process, not just a drop-in group.

We are here to discuss your novels, poetry, essays, short stories, and manuscripts with like-minded individuals. We honour the whole writing process, from the intensive world-building at 3 AM, to the Spotify playlist, and lastly to the incomprehensible draft that is molded into your final project.

We want to workshop short stories, poems, scripts, and your current novels. Every week is about how to improve your writing, getting feedback from other writers, and feeling inspired that you can get better.

A Note on Experience

Maison Mercury is for writers who are already writing. This is not a class for beginners looking to learn how to write. It is a place for those who are deep in the rough drafts of their work, looking for a community.

We want to add that this isn't about perfection or a perfect writer. It is for those who have already been writing and consider themselves writers, whether published or not, but are always looking to improve.
